There are two types of people. Those that believe that hard work gets us all and those that believe that deep prayer gets us everything.
I believe Both do.
But deep prayer and faith comes first. This is what enables us to work properly. “Hard work” concepts are pointless. If you are not putting in the right efforts in the right place, what results do you expect?
I see a lot of people working very hard and not achieving that one vital component of success: happiness.
It’s not just financial freedom that causes joy. It’s the peaceful mind plus the financial success. You work hard day and night and finally do get a lot of money… but bad health and a family who became strangers is not exactly what we want, right?
Thus, priorities.
Submission to God leads to Faith in God and prayer strengthens this. Why is this vital? It’s what sharpens intelligence and enables one to put in the right efforts in the right place thus working in peace and gaining more. It tames the ego which seeks more than what’s needed and ignores the little joys that make us smile. Prayer simplifies life and solves issues. Once we understand what it is. A man’s communication with his Creator. The Creator of all. Not separate from our daily lives and moments. Not unaware of our needs. And, very active at all times.
We are working hard, losing our cool, being angry, hasty, bumping cars, shouting and frustrated too. How is that good?
We blame and blame. And we go further down the well of depression. One man, not so long ago, came home.. killed his wife and kids and then committed suicide. A Muslim.
Stop!
Think!
Start all over again.

This verse indicates that Allah created mankind and the jinn in order to worship him. Many Muslims nowadays think that worship is limited to religious rituals such as prayer and fasting. This limited meaning of worship has no place in Islam , since the teachings of Islam covers all aspects of life , all acts are considered acts of worship if they are done in accordance with Allah’s divine law and he rewards them so we can communicate with our creature through different channels including work. Every decent work is an act of worship.
